Minter Ellison has dismissed one reader's comment posted on ALB, that suggested the firm may be laying off graduates due to the global financial crisis (GFC).
This year 87 graduates were hired at Minter Ellison - the same as the previous year and the projected numbers for 2010, a spokesperson for the firm said. "There is no 'list'. There have been no GFC redundancies in Minter Ellison's Australian operations and the firm is continuing to manage its cost base closely - and its discretionary spending - as part of the normal budget planning process with the aim of preserving jobs," the spokesperson added.
The firm and Queensland University of Technology recently posted an advertisement on CareerOne inviting law graduates with a 'passion' for climate change to apply for its new PhD scholarship. It includes possible part-time employment with the climate change practice.
