Gilbert + Tobin and Perth-based law firm Blakiston & Crabb have agreed to enter a strategic alliance with immediate effect. The alliance was initiated by G+T managing partner Danny Gilbert.
“[The alliance] will bring together G +T's corporate and financial expertise with Blakiston & Crabb’s project experience in resource based projects, offering exciting opportunities for both firms,” said Blakiston & Crabb Managing Partner, Michael Blakiston.
According Blakiston, G + T’s “brand name” as a "top tier" firm will attract market-leading work and major commercial transactions from national and international clients .
Both firms recognise the importance of the energy and resources industries and the increasing demand for high quality legal services in those sectors - which is why the alliance will attract major commercial transactions to both firms, he said.
Blakiston & Crabb will also benefit with access to G + T’s back of house resources including marketing and IT while operating as an independent firm. “Both Gilbert + Tobin and Blakiston & Crabb have similar cultures and share a similar history. We are both generation one firms, so we understand what clients require from their legal advisors," Blakiston said.
Danny Gilbert said that the alliance provided opportunities to develop expertise in the resources sector and also attract Chinese investors. “[It] will provide corporate and competition practice opportunities in acting for resources companies and resources projects where we don’t have our own internal resource capacity,” he said.
G+ T also shares an alliance with leading Chinese law firm, King & Wood.
