Khaitan & Co has lured Manas Kumar Chaudhuri from rival J Sagar Associates (JSA) to head the firm’s competition practice.
At JSA Chaudhuri led the New Delhi competition team and prior to that was the joint director of legal at India’s Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission and a registrar at the Competition Commission. Earlier this year Chaudhuri, alongside JSA colleagues Amit Kapur and Farhad Sorabjee, briefed the DLA Piper team in London about the competition framework in India.
Chaudhuri will move to Khaitan’s New Delhi office as a key partner expected to strengthen the full service practice. “He … will be a great asset to our existing and new clients,” said partner Rabindra Jhunjhunwala.
