DLA takes three from Reed Smith to build Gulf finance practice

DLA Piper has appointed Sean Angle to lead its finance and projects practice group across the Middle East. Angle, who has over 20 years experience working in the region, joins the firm from Reed Smith and will bring with him two senior associates, Tim Watkins and Diwakir Agarwal.

Zhong Lun, King & Wood help bridge funding gap on historic project

The Hong Kong- Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB), one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects ever undertaken in Greater China, has finally secured adequate financial security after the developers were extended an RMB 29bn syndicated credit facility. The loan will enable the HZMB Authority to finance and operate the bridge.

Clyde & Co launches Greater China construction practice

Clyde & Co’s construction practice seems to be growing as fast as some of the new skyscrapers appearing on city skylines around the region and the firm’s latest move – hiring ex-Minter Ellison partner Ian Cocking for its Hong Kong office – is in preparation for the launch of a China construction practice, due Jan 2011.

Al Tamimi survives Jumeirah panel slashing

Jumeirah chief legal officer and general counsel Robert Swade has ruthlessly culled the group’s legal panel from 12 firms to five this year – with Al Tamimi, Mayer Brown, Clyde & Co and Pinsent Masons the only firms out of the original 12 to survive unscathed.
