Sidley Austin will welcome corporate finance lawyer Alex Lloyd to its Hong Kong office in May this year following his move from Clifford Chance’s capital markets practice in Hong Kong.
Lloyd said he was attracted to the firm having worked with Sidley lawyers on past transactions. The US-qualified lawyer – whose focus is debt and equity capital markets – recently advised on Silver Base Group’s Hong Kong IPO last April and Indian energy firm Suzlon Energy’s US$90m bond issue last August.
On Lloyd’s appointment, the firm’s Asia-Pacific regional manager Thomas Albrecht said: “As the Asian region continues its unprecedented economic growth, capital raising will be necessary to fuel that growth and we anticipate that the high yield debt and equity capital markets will continue to be very active.”
