Corrs is still busily beefing up its corporate advisory group, with two more new appointments: ex-Freehills lawyers Sandy Mak and Jaclyn Riley-Smith.
Mak said she worked in the same M&A team as ex-Freehills partner Braddon Jolley who also moved to Corrs. For the past 11 years she worked with Jolley on major deals, including Fairfax Media's A$9bn merger with Rural Press, and Promina's A$7.9bn merger with Suncorp Metway. Mak has also acted for Goldman Sachs on the Hong Kong Housing Authority's Link REIT offering (US$2.8bn).
"Corrs offered a very exciting opportunity that I couldn't refuse," she said. "It's a smaller partnership than Freehills, but a very able and nimble firm. It's the opportunity and mandate to build a top-tier team and I think that is a very exciting opportunity."
Since joining Corrs she has found the collegiate culture to be warm and inviting. "It's truly a partnership in a true sense. I find it extremely welcoming," she said.
Mak has worked for Freshfields, where she undertook a six month secondment to Morgan Stanley's M&A legal team in the UK, and five month secondment to Goldman Sachs' investment banking division in Hong Kong.
