Maddocks has added again to its commercial team with the appointment of banking and finance partner, Stuart Weir. This is the seventh partner appointment to the firm's commercial group in the past eight months.
Weir brings with him more than 20 years of international commercial legal experience, including 14 years' banking and finance experience involving transactions in project finance, acquisition finance, leveraged buy-outs, debt capital markets, and corporate restructurings and workouts. He joins Maddocks from Allens Arthur Robinson where he has been for the past 10 years, including eight years as a partner. He will remain in Melbourne in his new role.
Weir has been involved in many significant and complex financing transactions, including the project financing of the Macarthur Wind Farm, the southern hemisphere's largest wind farm project; acting for the senior Australian lenders in the workout and restructuring of the Centro Properties Group; acting for ANZ on its A$2.6 billion acquisition of the Landmark rural finance business and acting for CitySpring on its SGD$1.5 billion acquisition of the Basslink Interconnector from National Grid UK.
"Stuart has a breadth of banking and finance experience across both the public and private sectors nationally and offshore. The addition of Stuart coupled with the recent expansion of the commercial team further strengthens our offering in providing first-class, commercial and pragmatic legal advice in our chosen sectors of Finance and Services, Infrastructure and Government,” said David Rennick, Maddocks' CEO.
