The demand for lawyers continues to be high across Australia, according to the latest Hudson Legal Salary Guide.

In NSW, in the past six months there has been increased demand for in-house roles within the industrial and IT sectors. Private practice litigation and construction and property lawyers are also highly sought after.

In Victoria, mid-level IT lawyers are in high demand in-house, as are property lawyers and mid to senior level commercial lawyers.

In Queensland, law firms rather than in-house roles are continuing to drive the highest level of demand for legal professionals.

In Perth, there is strong demand for in-house appointments in the mining and resources sectors. And among law firms, there is increased competition for lawyers in the two-to-five year PAE category.

In South Australia, lawyers with experience in energy & resources are particularly in demand, plus there is growth in the defence industry.
