The NSW government has appointed Martijn Wilder to oversee the NSW Government's bid to become the country's carbon trading hub. Mattjin Wilder will lead a group of industry experts to advise the Government on the best way forward. Commenting on the appointment Wilder said:
"In the same way that London has been successful in establishing itself as the global carbon financial centre, we have an opportunity to ensure that Sydney and Australia play a key role as the carbon trading hub for the region. With skilled professionals, financial institutions, an emissions trading scheme in development and substantial superannuation capital available to invest in the markets, the opportunities for us to create such a hub are enormous."
Wilder is also head of Baker & McKenzie's Global Climate Change and Emissions Trading Practice.
