Deals Digest: Aus first project financed merchant Wind Farm, PE on the up

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has advised on the project financing for what is believed to be Australia's first project financing of a merchant wind farm.. The firm acted for Infigen Energy on the 48.3 megawatt Woodlawn Wind Farm project. Scott Gardiner and Vishal Ahuja led the Mallesons team, together with Peter Staciwa and Catherine Arscott. Allens Arthur Robinson advised Westpac, the only financier. Partner Richard Gordon was assisted by senior associate Ben Farnsworth.
Quadrant Private Equity sale of Quick Service Restaurants
Minter Ellison has advised on the sale of Quick Service Restaurants. The business, Quick Service Restaurant Holdings (QSR) was sold to Archer Capital for an undisclosed sum. QSR Holdings operates more than 600 Red Rooster, Oporto and Chicken Treat stores nationwide.
The Minter Ellison team, led by partner Callen O’Brien, advised the vendors, including Quadrant. Freehills partner Damien Hazard advised Archer Capital, the purchaser.
Martin Bennett, private equity head at Minter Ellison noted that this transaction could indicate a positive FY2011 for private equity work: "We are seeing more private equity activity than we have for some time, and are optimistic that FY2011 will be a busy year."
