Minter Ellison today announced the appointment of Nicola Marley, a London-based, Australian-qualified finance lawyer, as a partner and head of the firm's London finance team. She joins from Mayer Brown International where she was also a partner.
"Nicola's appointment continues our strategic commitment to London," said John Weber, Minter Ellison's chief executive partner. "As a key global financial centre and an important base for Australian clients operating in the UK and throughout Europe, it is important for us to have a strong partner presence on the ground here." Marley's appointment follows Minter Ellison's relocation of partner Nigel Clark, the former head of the London finance practice, to the Beijing office to develop the firm's finance capability in Greater China and Mongolia.
Marley’s move to Minter Ellison returns the total number of partners at the London office to three. “Nicola brings significant expertise to the finance group,” said London managing partner, Michael Whalley. “As we continue to invest in key practice areas and offices globally, Nicola’s extensive experience on important and complex deals and transactions builds on our strengths as a firm to deliver a seamless Australian law service to our clients in the UK and across Europe.” Marley has broad experience in finance transactions and specialises in advising private equity sponsors, financial institutions and companies on financing deals and related restructurings.
Minter Ellison’s London office opened in 1974 – it was the first Australian firm to have an on-the-ground presence in the UK market.
