Johnson Winter & Slattery's (JWS) new special counsel Michelle Segaert has had quite a career. She has most recently been a senior counsel at Allco Finance Group and previously worked as a corporate counsel at Carnegie, Wylie & Company, associate solicitor at Linklaters and senior associate at Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
Segaert decided the next step in her career was to join JWS, because of her interactions with the firm and its partners while she still worked for Allco. "It was the type of work they did and the clients they looked after...it felt like a good fit," she said.
Well-versed in both in-house and private practice roles, Segaert has experience in M&A, restructuring, joint ventures, capital raisings and private equity investment. Although she is still relatively new to her role as special counsel, she is already enjoying the work and firm's "open and collegiate" culture.
The firm has also recently appointed ex-Linklaters corporate and energy and resources lawyer Martin Lovell, and ex-Minter Ellison workplace relations lawyer Lisa Hills to senior associate level.
