Blake Dawson has retrenched four property lawyers in line with what the firm describes as “changes in workflow" at the Sydney office. This is the latest in a line of casualties which has seen similar lay-offs at Deacons, which let go of 15 property and finance lawyers, and DLA Phillips Fox, which retrenched 12 lawyers. Blakes has offered counselling and career transition advice to the laid-off workers, as part of its employee assistance program.
Blake Dawson is not ruling out the possibility of further redundancies, although the firm's strong insolvency & restructuring practice should place it in a strong position relative to other firms more reliant on "boom time" practice areas.
