When Colin Biggers & Paisley (CBP) contacted Martin Deutsch, a director of Sydney firm Landerer & Co, he was not looking to move - but that gradually changed after talking with one of the CBP partners.
After a series of meetings with CBP, Deutsch felt positive about the prospect of joining the firm. "The more I interacted with them, the more impressed I became with CBP, including the way in which they handled the negotiation process. I wanted to take things slowly with my move and they were fine with that. They also went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable," he said.
Since joining CBP as a litigation partner, he has been reunited with partners Linda Murphy, who recently returned from CNA Insurance in the US, and Peter Harkin, who used to study with him at Sydney University. "The people here are hardworking, unpretentious and committed to providing excellent client service," he said.
Deutsch's clients, who include major shopping centre landlords, have been supportive of his move and he will continue to serve as a panel mediator at the Retail Tenancy Unit.
